This is the conclusion of a new paper from a group of clinicians and scientists in New York. This may seem like old news to many, but it is clear that CCT (corneal centre thickness) is a key measurement in day to day optometry and ophthalmology.
The paper specifically suggests CCT should be measured in all patients over 50 when screening for glaucoma.
The Laroche Glaucoma Calculator is also mentioned in the paper (Laroche being one of the paper's authors). The calculator takes age, IOP (intra ocular pressure) and CCT into account and provides a scoring system to evaluate a person's level of risk of developing glaucoma.
